IELTS preparation courses can be expensive, but a well-structured free study routine can get many candidates to their target band, especially if they're not starting from a very low level.

Building a Free Practice Routine

  • Grammar and vocabulary foundation: Structured, leveled grammar lessons are the base everything else builds on.
  • Reading practice: Read genuinely varied material at a slightly challenging level — news articles, short academic pieces, and structured reading exercises.
  • Listening practice: Regular exposure to a range of English accents at natural speed, not slowed-down "learner" audio.
  • Writing practice: Practice both Task 1 and Task 2 regularly, ideally with some way to get feedback.
  • Speaking practice: Record yourself answering typical Part 1, 2, and 3 questions, then listen back critically.

Using Official Practice Materials

The official IELTS website and test-maker organizations publish free sample questions and practice tests that closely match the real exam format — always prioritize these over unofficial material of unknown quality.

A Sustainable Weekly Routine

Rather than cramming, spread practice across the week: a couple of focused grammar/vocabulary sessions, one or two timed skill-specific practice sessions, and regular casual exposure to real English content in between.

Our free English Language Learning Center covers grammar, reading, writing, and listening at every level, structured specifically to build the skills IELTS tests.
