The UAE offers several distinct visit visa categories, differing mainly in permitted length of stay and how they're sponsored — understanding which applies to your situation avoids applying for the wrong one.
Common Visit Visa Types
- 30-day single or multiple-entry visa: The most common short-term tourist option.
- 60-day visa: A longer single-entry option for extended visits.
- 90-day visa: Available for certain nationalities, allowing an extended stay.
Some nationalities are eligible for visa-on-arrival or don't require a visa at all for short tourist stays — always check the current requirement for your specific nationality.
How Visit Visas Are Typically Sponsored
UAE visit visas are often sponsored by an airline, a hotel, a tour operator, or a UAE resident/company inviting you — the sponsor typically handles much of the application on your behalf.
Required Documents
- Valid passport with sufficient remaining validity
- A passport-style photo
- Proof of onward or return travel
- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
- Hotel booking or an invitation letter, depending on your sponsor and purpose
What This Visa Does NOT Allow
- Enrolling in a full degree program (see our Study in the UAE guide for the correct student visa route)
- Employment in the UAE
How to Apply
Most travelers apply through their airline, a UAE-based visa service, or a sponsoring hotel/tour operator rather than directly through an embassy — processing is often fast, sometimes within a few business days.
