Researchers have identified a gene variant associated with increased resistance to certain viral infections. The study, conducted across a sample of 4,000 participants, found that carriers of the variant showed a 30% lower infection rate during a seasonal outbreak. However, the authors caution that the mechanism remains unclear, and the finding does not yet translate into a clinical intervention. Further trials are needed before any practical application can be considered.
