A "fully funded" scholarship typically covers tuition, a monthly living stipend, and often travel costs — meaning you can study abroad without needing significant personal or family funds. These are highly competitive, so understanding which programs exist and their general eligibility is the first step to building a realistic application timeline.
What "Fully Funded" Actually Means
Always read the fine print — some scholarships marked "fully funded" cover tuition only, expecting you to source living costs separately. A genuinely fully funded award should explicitly list: tuition, a monthly stipend sufficient for living costs in that country, health insurance, and often round-trip airfare.

University-Specific Scholarships
Beyond government programs, many individual universities offer their own fully funded scholarships for exceptional applicants — often applied for automatically as part of your regular admission application. Always check the "financial aid" page of each university you're applying to.
How to Build a Realistic Timeline
Most fully funded scholarships have application windows 6–12 months before the intended start date, and require strong academic records, language test scores, a well-written statement of purpose (see our SOP guide), and often letters of recommendation. Start researching and preparing at least a year in advance.
Apply to More Than One
Given how competitive fully funded scholarships are, apply to several programs across different countries rather than pinning your entire plan on one.
