Personal Pronouns and 的 (Possession)

的 (de) connects an owner to the thing they own, similar to English's apostrophe-s: [owner] 的 [thing]. Common pronouns: 我 (wǒ, I), 你 (nǐ, you), 他 (tā, he), 她 (tā, she).

Examples

• 这是我的书。(Zhè shì wǒ de shū.) — This is my book.
• 他的车很新。(Tā de chē hěn xīn.) — His car is very new.
• 她的名字是丽丽。(Tā de míngzi shì Lìli.) — Her name is Lili.
• 这是老师的手机。(Zhè shì lǎoshī de shǒujī.) — This is the teacher's phone.
• 你的家在哪里?(Nǐ de jiā zài nǎlǐ?) — Where is your home?
