Cohesion

Cohesion connects sentences and paragraphs so a text flows logically — through linking words, pronoun reference back to earlier nouns, and repeated or related vocabulary (lexical cohesion).

Examples

• The company launched a new product. It quickly became a bestseller.
• Researchers studied the sample. The findings were surprising.
• First, the data was collected. Then, it was analyzed.
• Pollution is rising. This trend threatens public health.
• The proposal was rejected. Nevertheless, the team continued their work.
